High Force, Teesdale.

oil on canvas on board

300mm x 600mm

June 2026

It’s a triptych now

So I painted High Force back in May - it was my first proper waterfall and I loved it. I also did a small one at the same time for the @auto___amor one day in May exhibition- this one is currently in the One Day in May exhibition at @spiritstudios_suffolk in Suffolk.

But this week I’ve painted Low Force and and Middle Force and both on a new size (if not proportion - I’ve moved up to 300x600mm) and the earlier version is square. I’m keen they can work as a set so I cancelled plans to paint on the streets of Middleton (too many ugly clutters of parked cars today) and headed back to the mighty High Force. In case you don’t know it - trust me it’s stunning and worth a trip if you are anywhere nearby.

Happy to see them together, I think they work well as a set.

I’ve included the earlier version again here, and a a quick kirkcarrion sketch from the morning.

Back home tomorrow- might paint first.

Love the North Pennines - so alive and invigorating.❤️
